“Captain Tommy  -Thank you sir! I had a great time and my jackpot Yellowtail today was icing on the cake. Great crew and great operation!  I’m planning to come back out this week on Tuesday night.  Here’s a pic of my Yellowtail from today’s trip.  30lb Yellowtail taken on a Tady 4/0 scrambled egg - This was also the Jackpot fish for the second day of the 2 day.  Cheers!  Breck Warwick”
 2 Day Trip

April 25, 2013 - We are out chasing tail again today.  We came back with 5 quality yellowtail and sack-os full of rockfish.  Capt. Tom said the fish that were landed were caught on sardines.  I did not get a full report because he did a turn and burn - I just had time to unload the groceries, blow a kiss and wish ‘em all luck!  One of our passengers was kind enough to give me a great size fillet - is it gross to eat Yellowtail sashimi for breakfast?  Heck No! if it’s from the YELLOWTAIL XPRESS!  It’s 1:00 in the morning but I just wanted you to know what’s happening on the water.  Pinky

April 24, 2013 - Started off with a beautiful ride across the pond things looked good on the Terrafin, waters warming.  Loaded up at San Pedro Bait Co. with some great sardines, we were off.  We caught fish on the last trip so we knew exactly where the was mother load was holding.  While passengers were rocked to sleep the crew searched for some squid.  We scratched away about 10 scoops of squid, plenty for the next day of fishing.  Captain Sal anchored us on our prime spot and we were ready to go.  We hooked 3 mystery fish in the morning on the kelp line, unfortunately they were not landed.  We told our passengers to bring heavy line (30 lb. & 40 lb.) but some did not listen, lines and hearts were broken.  The sun came up and we were on the hunt.  The water was 60.6 degrees and clean, it was just a matter of time before we found them.  A spot of yellowtail popped up and the chase was on!  As soon as we got near they vanished as quickly as they appeared.  We kept looking, and just as the sun peeked through the cloud coverage it was GAME ON!  Guys were flylining sardines, using sliders (1/2 oz.) and throwing jigs.  We landed 8 nice yellowtail and had our chances at more.  Very exciting with fish all around the boat, what a blast.  Everyone enjoyed a nice bag of quality rockfish, those lucky that brought the heavy gear… went home with yellow.  Back on the fish, C-YA Captain Tom

May 4, 2013 - Freedom on the fish with 9 yellowtail and a 300 lb. thresher shark 11:41 am, still on the hunt!

Freedom-April-2013-YT-Banner-WEBApril 20 & 21- The first day marked good spots of yellowtail around the island.  As the day went on the water temperature got nicer, from 58.4 to 60.6, the water went from green to a clean blue.  In the after noon the yellows were up, hooked 3, landed 1. Seen big improvements.  2nd day went back to area where we marked fish and it was game on with sardine and jigs.  Fish came up immediately crashing around the boat -it was game on!  2 going on the jig.  Then it was a steady pick chasing sonar marks, breezing fish and breaking fish. The water has changed, the bell has rung!  Make sure you bring at least 30 lb. test and 40 was the hot ticket.  Color of Iron was a mix.  The hot jig was the Sumo 6 Chrome and Blue, the guy hooked 3 fish and dumped 2. The guys switched over to chrome & blue, and blue & white and started getting bit.  Bring your Sumo chrome & blue 6 &  Tady scramble egg 4/0.  Final score, 1 yellow the first day and 10 for the second day and we had our share of chances and lost a few.  - Captain Tommy Lee
